We did it! We made it to New Hampshire and survived the car trip. Here are some fun facts, highlights and survival secrets.
Random Facts about our Trek East:
Miles driven: approx. 145o
Days in the car: 3
Stops per day: 1
(except on day 3 when Brinley went on car seat strike, then we had to stop twice)
Happy Meals purchased: 6

Hours I spent behind the wheel: ZERO
(Taber drove the whole thing, what a stud!)

Hours I spent going back and forth between the seats catering to little peoples needs: approx. 3, then I gave up and just sat back there with them.
Meanwhile Monty enjoyed Gold Medallion status in the front seat. Lucky.

Other highlights:
Driving through States and parts of the country we've never seen before
Making it the whole way with NO MELTDOWNS from Teya
and only one minor come apart by Brinley
Stopping in Chicago to stay the night with Naomi and Kevin.
They hooked us up with a and a car charger for our DVD player (priceless!) and an I-pass so we could cruise through the billions of toll roads without stopping. As if that wasn't enough, Kevin even made us a pancake breakfast! We love those guys!

Survival Aids:
-Stickers: We must've gone through at least 500. Kept them both busy for decent stretches of time.
-Play-doh: Makes a mess but that's all part of the road trip right?
- New coloring books and markers: When they were bored with their coloring books they did some nice artwork on their faces.
-i-Pod holders that attach to your window: Thanks to my sister Sarah for the idea!
- Sun shields for the windows
- GPS
-i-Pass (thanks again Kevin!)
- binky, toys, treats, and MOVIES!!!

So glad that you made it ok. What a LONG trip. Whew! I-pod holders for the windows? What will they think of next?! I had NO idea that it would take that long. Wow! I sure you will be making friends and influencing people in no time ; )
Wow! What a trip! You guys were very prepared. Glad you made it safe and sound, love the way you did the post, laughed that Monty got front seat privileges, and totally dig the ipods on the windows! Good luck in New Hampshire Becca!
So glad you made it! i-Pass...what a lifesaver! I can't count how many times I have sat in Chicago traffic thinking "Man, I wish I could drive right through..."
Glad you guys made it safe and sound, and that itwas a pretty decent trip! That's great the girls did so well! I can't wait to see the new place...sounds like you have been having fun shopping! Woo hoo!
wow that is crazy. thanks for sharing the experience... and ummm. why haven't you commented on my blog missy. I am a little disappointed in you. you are usually the first to comment tsk tsk
sure you had snowy roads the whole way...glad you got there safely!
Crazy, crazy, crazy! I'm not much of a road trip person. I'd rather much fly but commend you brave parents for making that trek. Teya and Brin did really good. I don't know if I'd be able to. The drive down from Provo to Vegas is pretty long for me :). I'm excited for you guys to start a new life on the east coast. Best wishes!
Bless your guys hearts!! That's a long car ride!!! But it sounds like the girls did pretty dang good!! I love technology, It really is weird to think that when we were kids it really was just up to us to try not to fight so much that mom/dad noticed! And "enjoy" the scenery :) praise portable DVD players!!
Glad you all made it safely! Props for Taber for driving it all himself, but Becca, I gotta tell you...you had the harder job (being the entertainer, fetcher, etc...). That's what my brother always says anyway about roadtrips with kids-driving is the easy part!
Have fun shopping and looking forward to more pics of the house.
Yay, you guys made it! What troopers your girls are. I LOVE the i-pod holder thingys for the windows, but I think Chenoa would still demand to hold it, so they might not work out for us. haha. Monty looks sooo cute up front. Bet he loved the peace and quiet up front. haha. You sitting in the back looks all too familiar to me. I'm thankful I'm still flexible enough to manuver to the back while we're driving. haha! And Taber, what a tough guy, driving the WHOLE WAY:) Glad you made it safe and sound!
Awesome trip blog !!!!
long trips are fun if the little people behave. That Monty living the life in gold medallion status SO funny.. Becca you have to tell me the secret of securing passenger status for the length of the trip, Taber way to go for taking the reins of the wagon the whole way!
Glad you made it safe and sound.. we miss you guys.
Love the Ayllons
Yay! I'm glad you made it. I love the random facts about the trip. And the pic of you with the girls in the back. And how you used stickers - I always forget about that option, but I have had a few plane trips when I remembered, and it saved my life.
Dude, you totally bought two ipod holders. That is awesome. That thing saved our lives on our trip down to Vegas. Hooray for technology. I love that your kids had McD's for every meal. Ya gotta feed em what they'll eat though. Looks like Montey got the best seat in the car. What a lucky dog. I was determined to sit up front no matter how many times I needed to go sit back with Noa. I should've just gave in and sat with him. It would've been a lot easier. I am glad you guys made it safe and wish you luck in your new home.
