Ever since I can remember I have wanted a trampoline. It seemed like ALL my friends and neighbors had one but me. Amy Eager, Vanessa Welch, Nicki Hawkins, Justin Olson, Emma Gordon, I could go on and on. They were all my neighbors, and they all had trampolines. For whatever reason my parents never gave into my constant begging for one. I guess it was a good thing my neighbors had them though because I still got quite a bit of jumping in on theirs : )
Still, I've always dreamed of having one and after we bought our first house in Tennessee I started asking for one again, this time it was Taber, not my parents I had to soften up. In TN he felt like Teya was still too young to enjoy one and we knew we were going to be there pretty short term so that was a no. Then in Minnesota we didn't have a yard so that squashed the idea entirely. But once we moved here and I saw the perfect spot in our backyard for a trampoline I started putting on the hard sell!
While I only had happy memories on trampolines; sleepovers, sprinkler jumps, crack the egg and other classics, Taber had a different view. He grew up with two trampolines and recalls broken bones, injuries, and dare devil stunts that he didn't want our kids exposed to. So after weeks of discussing pros and cons, promising to have strict rules and be super careful, talking to the family lawyer (Taber's brother ; ) researching liability insurance and taking all the necessary safety precautions, my trampoline dream has FINALLY COME TRUE!!!
We put it up on Saturday and Teya wanted to be part of every little step.
She sorted poles, brought us screws, and carried around springs and handed them to Taber when he needed them
Once the frame was together and we started attaching springs she didn't leave his side.
Taber did all the muscle work getting the springs on. Good thing he was wearing leather gloves because at one point he pinched his finger so bad that it ripped through the leather!
Teya then helped us tie on the mat
The last step was putting up the safety enclosure. One of the crucial components to making the tramp safer and therefore permissible in our backyard : )
Finally after 2 1/2 hours in the sun, it was finished! The last 10 minutes Teya was really getting ansy. She started whining to get on and said, "Mom I just can't be patient anymore!" Poor thing. Once she started jumping though she was a happy little clam.
Taber showed her some of his sweet moves. And I was just beaming the whole time. I've waited a long time for this so I just wanted to savor the moment : )

On Monday evening we went out for some jumping after our FHE lesson. It was Brinley's first time on it and she LOVED it! Once the kids got off I hopped back on for some solo jumping time. Since I didn't have to be careful without the kids there I really let loose! Oh man it was AWESOME!! Pretty good workout too. Thank you Taber for giving in to my begging. I'm sure we're going to make a lot of fun memories on that thing : )
Here's a cute, short 1 minute video of Teya and Brinley's first time jumping together.

How fun! Really though, the most impressive thing is that awesome splits move you are doing! Dang!
Glad you got your long awaited wish. Another bonus is you guys can get some sweet workouts jumping with the girls!
Man...your house in New Hampshire is just getting cooler and cooler all the time! I think we need to come visit...lol. :) The video is awesome...I love how Brinley keeps falling. So much fun! I totally want a trampoline now! :)
LUCKY! I wish we could come have a sleepover on your trampoline with you guys! Cute pics dude. My favorite was the one with Taber and Teya under the trampoline. Very cute!
Love it. We grew up with a trampoline, and I have a lot of fun memories as well on them... especially the sleepovers and sprinklers. Very fun!!! Do an extra jump for me!
Glad you finally got to fulfill your dream. We put our tramp up the same day as you. But I'm ready to take it down now cause we have the entire neighborhood on it everyday and they've broken the netting down twice! Now I just want a fenced in backyard really bad! Malia does like bouncing on it with mommy though. That's fun. What I don't like is when Maile comes home from school and wants to jump but there's 6 little boys jumping on it. I have a really hard time being the mean neighbor and telling them to get off. So I'm just the mean neighbor seething inside my house :)
Many fun memories of sleepovers, and crack the egg, (and head) on trampolines. Unfortunately ours got destroyed when too many big kids used it one day and Joe won't let me replace it. : ( Something about too many emergency room visits already resulting from its use... whatever! There have only been 3. That is not too many right??
Very fun! I always wanted one as a kid too...I think it would have looked weird though, us having the ONLY trampoline on the whole Navajo Reservation! heehee. Maybe someday we'll get one. I think they're lots of fun! Except, we'd never get Chenoa off! Happy Birthday to Taber by the way! Looks like he had another awesome Birthday!! You guys get better looking with each new year...no fair!! haha
Back in highschool some guy in one of my classes heard that I was Mormon. The next thing out of his mouth was, "Do you have a trampoline?" Apparently trampolines, minivans, and Mormons go hand in hand. Nice to know you are now a true believer!
Love it! Can I come jump too?!
YAY!! I'm so glad you finally got your tramp! You guys will have so much fun! I wish I had a big enough yard - my kids would go crazy. Although, with 3 boys, I think we'd have more of Taber's experiences to deal with!
I love that video of your girls jumping!! Brinley was cracking me up with all of her little jumps and falls, and Teya looked like she was having the time of her life- I loved her comment at the end.
I've never had a trampoline or thought much about them, but I read this post yesterday and it must have had a big impact on me because last night I had a big old dream that we suddenly owned a trampoline and it was really exciting. I was laughing when I woke up and realized we don't really have one. We'll just have to come visit!
Hooray for trampolines. It looks like it was worth the wait. Can't wait until we can get a yard. I love that you all got in on the action and that Teya was attempting air poses like you. So funny
