Pumpkins Take 1:Halloween comes with a lot of fun traditions. Pumpkin carving is a must, mostly because we love eating pumpkin seeds! Taber found a big ol' pumpkin at Sam's and brought it home to carve with the girls.

Everyone got into scooping the guts, except Teya, who is going through a dainty phase and doesn't like to get her hands dirty. She had fun watching though.

We took a nice family shot and then I started preparing the pumpkin seeds. We had every intention of carving our giant pumpkin but the kids got hungry and then they were tired and we had to put it off for another day. Unfortunately, by the time we got around to it again the giant pumpkin was rotten and moldy. So, we had to go to option B.
Pumpkins Take 2:Option B was a kid friendlier version anyway. Teya can't really wield a carving knife yet so she was happy to do some fun painting with Daddy.

Here are their final products. Teya's is the pumpkin on the right. She painted that whole thing all by herself, not too shabby!
Ward Party:
Another great Halloween tradition is going to the trunk or treat Halloween party at our church. I was glad we could have a night that the girls could wear the costumes without being bundled up. Teya looked so stinking cute in her little mermaid costume.

And here's princess Brinley, I never got a great shot of her by herself so I had to crop this one. Isn't she adorable in that dress?

The party was a lot of fun, they had a cake walk, costume parade, pie eating contest, Halloween bingo, crafts and more. At the end Teya went out to the cars and got a HUGE loot of candy too.
Trick or Treat!:
Last but not least
, we took the girls out for a little trick or treating in the neighborhood. This year was my favorite Halloween yet because Teya was totally into and Brinley was old enough to sort of get it too.

Getting bundled up and ready to go.

Here they are at their first door. You'll notice that Brinley's bucket is empty and she's looking at me like, "What the heck are we doing here Mom?!"

Fast forward a few houses later, bucket is full and Brinley is happy as can be. She really got the hang of it and wouldn't let anyone take that bucket away!

Here's Teya with her combined loot from the trunk or treat and trick or treating. We've told her she can only have one piece a day but she's still young enough that she thinks that's awesome! Brinley is still a little small for candy so I guess I'll just have to take one for the team and eat hers for her. : )

And Monty wishes you a Happy Halloween too! Woof!

Brinley is soooo cute! I love that costume on her! So funny with the smile once she realized she was begging for candy and GETTING IT! Haven't seen any pics of Monty for a while. He's cute! Can't believe all the big size candy bars Teya got LUCKY! Miss you guys so much. P.S. don't take pics of Teya in her mermaid costume to walmart to get prints. Someone did that in UT and got the cops called on them for child porn. STUPID!
Great post! Holidays are definitely a lot more fun with kids around!
Looks like you guys had so much fun! I love the big pumpkin, I don't know if it's just Minnesota or what but we have seen huge pumpkins this year! Brinley and Teya look darling in their costumes, I'm sad I didn't get to see them in person! Yay for blogs!
That is one massive pumpkin! That is awesome! Teya and Brinley were both adorable in their costumes! I love it! And Montey makes a great bumble bee! :)
DON'T DO IT BECCA! Whatever you do...don't eat Brinley's candy for her! I ate Brooklyn's...pretty much all of it...yesterday...SO NOT WORTH IT!
On a more positive note, LOVE the costumes! Especially Monty. Poor dog! :) hehe
HOW FUN!!!!!
HAHAhaaaaa... Monty's costume is the best!!
Love their adorable costumes! You make beautiful girls. I stumbled upon the picturew of Harper an Teya from last summer, I can't believe how much they have grown! We miss you guys. Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it.
The girls are adorable [as if you couldn't tell] and it looks like your holiday was as action packed as the rest of your life! Love that you dress good ole Monty up too!
I can't believe that first pumpkin - that thing is huge! I love the little painted one that Teya did - very cute. The girls both look adorable in their costumes. Teya is a gorgeous mermaid, and I have never seen a princess with cuter wrist rolls than Brinley.
I just showed my girls these pictures, and they think the fact that Monty has a costume is soooo funny!
Cute stuff! We have Callie paint pumpkins every year while we are carving the big ones. It keeps her way more entertained.
I love Brinley in all of those shots! I love that she kept that huge hat on.
In answer to your question- yes I have a Nikon D70, which is an SLR. I am in love with it. Dave got it for me when I was eight months pregnant with Callie. It has taken a lot of work to get good at it, but it is the seriously my prized possesion!
I love that you guys painted your pumpkins! So cute, and kid friendly! We were lame this year and didn't even do pumpkins! I'm still sad about it. You always have such fun posts. Btw, I'm making one of your crockpot recipes as we speak! yay:) It sure smells good! (The creamy chicken one) I love Monty, he's so cute. I think you need to do some more posts incorporating his cuteness! I soooo want a dog. Is it tuff having a dog and two Kids? I probably need a heads up before we go out and get a puppy of our own!!
Okay first of all, that pumpkin is HUGE! Seriously, where did you find that thing? And secondly, your girls look ADORABLE!! Don't you love Halloween...glorified dress up for all the girlies! :)
