Friday Foto!

Okay, so I'm copying this idea from my brother Chris, who posts a random photo with a fun story every Friday. I like his idea so much that I thought I'd do it too.

Today's photo brings us back to 1983. My mom had scheduled an appointment to have the children's picture taken professionally. She couldn't be there and asked my dad to get us ready. As a mother myself, I know what getting kids ready for a photo shoot takes. Baths, hair styling, accessorizing, coordinating outfits, etc... But I guess my Dad didn't get the preparation memo because he just brought us to the studio as we were. My mom was furious at the time, but looking back, how can you not love the candid snapshot that was captured that day? My favorite details are our messy hairdos, the fact that I'm just wearing overalls with no shirt underneath, and that he brought Naomi (the baby) in nothing but a dirty onsie. No pants, no shoes, not even socks! Bless you Dad for undertaking such a tremendous task on your own. I have a hard time getting my 2 kids ready for pictures, let alone 4! You did good and I have to say, I think the picture turned out perfectly!

That is sooo funny! That is just the guys way of thinking. What a cute little kiddo you are! You look a lot like Brinley!

That is awesome! So something Andrew would do. I still can't figure out how he can dress himself just fine but be so incapable of dressing the kids.(:

Granted I was only 6 or 7 at the time, but as I remember the incident:

We were at Sears shopping and dad saw a special for pictures. He told mom we should have the kids pictures taken. She said no because we were all dirty and unkempt. He said it would look more natural, like what we normally look like and would be more like a playday picture. Anyway, he won out and took us to the studio, mom in tow. But she wasn't happy about it. I just remember being stressed out that my hair wasn't done and kept messing with it trying to make it look ok for the picture :)

This is too cute, don't you love looking back at pictures like these and being able to remember a funny story behind them? Ok, but seriously Brinley is a spitting image of you, it's so cute.

How funny! I love the Friday photo idea. I may just have to "borrow" this idea. Brinley is definately your child!

I guess dad didn't know that I would be haunted for years by the image of my tremendously huge thighs gushing before the camera! Oh well. It is a pretty funny picture!

This is pretty much the best professional picture I've ever seen! The combination of the overalls, messy hair, dirty onesie, etc. against the professional backdrop are just too funny.

I love the Friday Foto idea! Also, I clicked on the link to your brother's site, and saw that he lives in Thailand? (Is that right?) One of my little brothers is in Thailand on a mission right now. It was fun looking at your brother's site and seeing pictures to get a better idea of what it's like there.
