Rats, Scarfs and Chocolate Fondue

Over Christmas break we invited the Hanks fam to crash with us for a few days. It was awesome having a house full of parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and Rats.

That's right. We had rats at our house during Christmas. Introducing Cutie, and Cherry (not pictured), the two rats that Santa brought Naomi's girls for Christmas. Once you get over the fact that they're rats, they're actually really cute and extremely kid friendly. As you can tell by Teya's face, my kids loved them. Even Cam would point to them, smile and yell, "Raaaah!!!"

Grandma Karen earned extra awesome Grandma points when she knitted her little heart out to make these adorable scarfs for each of the girls. Brooklyn and Lily were so thrilled they decided to adopt her as their honorary Grandma too.

The kids and their cousins eating pancakes with sugar and whipped cream. Now you know why they love auntie Becca's house :)

At night when the kids were in bed it was Grown up time!! We played lots of Banagrams, watched some good movies, and laughed a lot.

We also got the best present ever when Bob and Karen volunteered to watch our kids AND Naomi's kids so we could go see Les Miserables on a double date! It was AWESOME and SO amazing to have free babysitting!! Thank you Bob and Karen!!!

On our last night together we took one more trip to Grahams chocolate shop
for some homemade ice cream.

And then we went to Grahams coffee shop to wash down the ice cream with some chocolate fondue!!! (Now you can start to understand how I gained 12 lbs, just wait till you see what we ate over New Years... :)

 Happy Chocolatey faces!

So glad we got to spend the first half of our break with Taber's parents and the Hanks fam. Even though we didn't travel this year it still felt like a vacation having them all here.

Ice cream AND chocolate fondue?? Yes, please!! That is awesome.
When we got our hamster, the petco girl was trying to talk us into a rat, but I couldn't do it. It's the tail that gets me. So now we basically have a rat with no tail. :)
Love all the cute pics, you and Naomi look like you're having a blast living so close! So fun!!

DUDE! That was seriously the BEST vacay! I need to get some of those pics from you. Especially that one of Lily with chocolate on her face and the one of Kev and I at the movie! And one more shout out to Gma and Gpa Rigg! They were a blast to hang out with and it was so awesome of them to babysit for us!

Rats??? Yikes! I can see where they would be kind of cute as long as they aren't the sewer crawling kind....gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. :) Those scarves are adorable. How fun that all of the girls got one! It always looks like it is on non-stop party at the Rigg house! You guys sure know how to live it up, and that is AWESOME!!

Looks like a ton of fun and good food. I always love your food pictures. As I was posting all about our Christmas trip, I was thinking how great it would be to just always be on vacation with family and good food. but I guess then we'd all probably gain a lot more than 12 pounds. That fondue looks so good - fondue is my new favorite dessert. We make it all the time at home now - 1 pint of whipping cream, warmed up to bubbling, then add 1 bag of Ghiradelli milk-chocolate chips and 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, gradually till they melt. We do it in a fondue pot, but you can do it in a regular pot and just keep it on low and put it in bowls for kids to dip. I guess that was weird to put a recipe in a comment, but seeing those good pictures made me want some.
