Then 3 weeks ago, she woke up one morning with a dry pull up. I sat her on the potty and she went. That's when I knew it was time and I couldn't put it off any longer. Teya potty trained in less than a week (She poop trained herself before we even started so we really only had to teach her to do #1) So yeah, I was a little bummed when a week went by and Brinley was still having accidents. Guess I got a little spoiled with Teya. I kept at it though, my philosophy is, once you've put underwear on them there's no going back. So no matter how many accidents she had I never put her back in her pull ups. Even when we went out in public, we just brought extra pairs of pants and underwear.
She finally started catching on and by week two she had gone the whole week without any number 1 accidents, including at night, but she refused to do # 2 in the pot. She would hold it in for 2 days straight and then make a massive "deposit" in her underwear (sorry, TMI but it is a potty training post after all.) It was the most frustrating thing ever. Finally I turned to my Facebook friends for advice. (What would we do without Facebook?) And I got a lot of great suggestions such as have her go commando, offer her a bigger reward for #2, and watch for the poop face and when she starts making it, run her into the bathroom. I did all three and it worked!! She has finally started doing her 2's in the potty. She even told Taber when we were out somewhere and did it in a public restroom. HUGE breakthrough!
I still try and remind her go potty every 2 hours, and I still watch for the poop face because I don't trust her on that one quite yet, but she's doing great. 10 straight days with no #1 accidents and 5 for #2. Her potty chart is full of stickers, she earned her pony toy, and best of all, no more buying expensive pull-ups. I think I'll take that extra $50 a month we're saving and call it my potty training bonus. Pretty sure I earned it!

So awesome! Way to go Brinley! Ugh. I need to get going with Anna. Pressures on!
Yay Brinley! We are still working with Miley on this...she is completely #1 potty trained, but is the same as Brin on #2...she wil hold it and hold it and let it go at night in her pull up. Lovely. This gives me hope that she will get the hang of it soon!
Genius! Wish I had thought of a potty training bonus, although I only really had a month of no diapers then a new baby to buy them for...that's so awesome that it's going so well now!
Yep, you did earn it! That is great, I'm amazed, seriously. Training Makenzie was so hard and although Jarom caught on early and quickly, he still pees at night so we have to put him in a pull up. I don't know what to do about it because he has been potty trained for over a year but he honestly doesn't realize he's peeing at night. Makenzie stopped peeing at night as soon as she was potty trained, so I'm at a loss. We tried just letting him wet his bed to see if that would trigger something, but after a week or so straight of washing pee sheets, I gave up. Any tips??
The picture you put up looks like it should be in a magazine by an article about potty training success! Love it, she is so fun.
YAY! That is AWESOME. We are going through the same thing right now with Liam. You think after potty training 4 kids I'd have it down by #5, right?! Each kid has been so completely different!! Liam is currently completely #1 trained for the last 2 weeks. We haven't had any accident in that area but #2. ACK! We have yet to make even 1 poop on the pot :( He hides and I always seem to miss the poop face. I'm gonna throw a huge party for him when he finally does go, lol. I like the going commando idea. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah buddy. The lil Brinley beauty is potty trained. Give her a kiss n hug from uncle Tau. Congrats Brin.
Brinley is AWESOME! I've been thinking about it with Tristan...but he had yet to wake up with a dry diaper. HA! He's such a little stink...I don't know when the time will finally come to start with him. Now and then he'll say I need go Potty MOM! But he really just wants to take his diaper off and sit on the potty cuz he likes the attention from mommy & sister. haha. Someday! I'm looking forward to little superhero underoos!!!
Becca---what would you recommend doing first? How old is Brinley again? I want Kyla potty trained, like, now. I like the idea of having just one in diapers...3 was horrible! I'm hoping I can potty train her before the baby comes in July....any tips on where to start??
Shoot - I just tried to leave a comment and somehow it didn't work.
Anyway, I'm jealous! I need to do this with Henry. I wish I would have done it earlier with him before he had an opinion about it. He's actually done #2 in the toilet a bunch, but has no interest in wearing underwear or attempting to keep them dry. I'm a wimp when it comes to toilet training, and always think it's easier to change diapers than to go through training. I'm super impressed with your ability to stick with it, especially with a new baby!
Based off your title, I thought you were going to announce you had gone from disposable to cloth. Potty training makes much more sense :) Congrats for you and her!
