Day 1:
I printed up a sticker chart and bought a shiny new toy that I put above the toilet so she could see it and hopefully be motivated to potty. Terrified of having to clean up any accidents, I left her in her pull-up. She went potty once but when she realized that she only got one sticker and she still had 34 to go she wasn't happy. She wanted the toy NOW! After a big fat melt down she simply refused to pee in the potty the rest of the day
Day 2:
I got brave and put her in big girl underwear. I asked her every 30 minutes is she had to pee. She always said no. Then I hear her scream "Oh no! my pull up has a hole!" I run into the living room to find her sitting in a puddle. Her first accident. It wasn't that bad. I can do this I think. We try again, she wets again. By nap time she is back in a pull-up.
Day 3:
She wakes up and I say "Time for big girl underwear!" She melts down and just wants her pull-up. I tell Taber that I'm giving up and will try again after Christmas. He says, "Have you tried having her go commando?" I decide to give it a try as a final effort before giving up. The morning goes perfectly! Every time she has to pee she runs to the potty. I put her pull-up on for her nap and she stays dry. When she wakes up I tell her it's time to go commando again but she wants her big girl undies. I was nervous about accidents, but put them on. She goes the rest of the day with no accidents!
Day 4: Big girl underwear all day, pull up during nap, no accidents!
Day 5: big girl underwear all day, including nap! No accidents! I think we're getting there!
Day 6: We go to church and to friends' houses and are away from the house all day. I was super nervous but kept her in big girl underwear and she did not dissapoint! No accidents!
Day 7: Teya earns her last two stickers and gets her Rescue pack! I was so scared that once she earned her toy she would stop going in the potty. Not the case! Even with no more stickers to earn she keeps going in the potty! HOORAY!!!

Way to go! There's nothing better than potty training success. Going commando totally worked for Makenzie. Doesn't she seem so grown up in underwear??
Yay! Nice work! I am sooooo nervous to start Harper, mostly because he could care less if he was messy, and doesn't have a problem with peeing on the floor... awesome. I'm so glad that it went well with Teya! Our D.Day (potty training begins) is next week... but for some reason it keeps getting pushed back... cause I'm a wuss :)
YEA! I'm so glad she's doing it! It's wonderful! Now, she's going to love to start exploring public bathrooms.
btw, the rescue pack is awesome! VERY cool prize. I need to get one for Anna for Christmas.
Yay....it's such a great feeling to start saving money on pull-ups. I'm glad it worked so fast for her. My kids took forever...and Maile is just starting to sleep in big girl panties at night. Mason....well, that's another story.
Wow! I'm impressed! What a great job mommy and Teya:) I got a pink potty for Chenoa...only I think I'm teaching her bad things because she thinks of it more as a special "chair" than an actual potty. We'll see how it continues to go!
Who would have thought Dad could potty train better than Mom? ha ha j/k Yay for Teya AND for you! That wasn't too bad at all. I'm dreading doing Allison. She tells me every time she needs to go potty, but won't sit on the toilet. Ugh. Maybe commando is the trick. Eventually.
p.s. - how'd you get her to do #2 so early? Usually it's the other way around.
Okay, how much can I pay you to come and potty train Seth? I'm going to have to try some of these tricks. Yelling at him doesn't seem to be doing it.
yay teya! big girls go potty :)! im not looking forward to the day when we have to potty train na'u. seems like hard stuff. i guess when they do get it down, its alot better than wiping their bum all the time :).
Brinn: We kept pushing D-day back too! First it was because of the baby being born, then because of the move, then because we were traveling, etc... I totally know how it goes! It's very hard to find a covenient time to potty train!
Nicole: Lol! Yeah, Taber was the genius on this parenting piece for sure! And I don't know how we got Teya to do #2. We just showed her how and for some reason she liked it a lot better than going in her diaper! We got lucky there!
Scott: Yes, you can pay me to potty train Seth, I take cash, check, or credit card ; )
If only I dare let Elena go commando. Maybe on Ethan's pre-school days.
LOL! This post had me cracking up!!! You are so funny Becca, and such a good mom! Thank you for giving me my entertainment for the day. I'm glad that you endured. I don't know how I'll be when I have kids... :)
