Bringing baby Nori home

Even though we were unprepared for Nori's early arrival it all worked out. Friends bought us some diapers, loaned us a car seat, and gave us some baby clothes.

Auntie Naomi bought Nori this sweet little heart outfit to come home in.

She looked so cute drowning in those newborn clothes. Tiny little peanut.

She wasn't a fan of her car seat, but we buckled her in anyway, bundled her up, and braved the -20 degree windchill and -4 degree temps to take her home.

When we got home she was still screaming (Apparently she hates car seats.) Grandma Karen and the girls were a great welcoming committee.

The girls couldn't wait to get their hands on her. They were smitten.

Monty thought she was pretty great too. He gave her a good sniff and then smothered her in puppy kisses.

These two just wanted to hold her all day

They couldn't get enough of her

And who can blame them? Just look at those cheeks!
Everyone thought she was the best thing since sliced bread.

 Well, almost everyone.
This guy was having a hard time being dethroned.
"Why is everyone looking at her? Don't they know I'm the baby?"
He wanted nothing to do with her.

But that was okay. We just let Cam take things at his own pace. Nori still had plenty of admirers who were jumping at the bit to hold her. Every time I turned around the girls were reaching out to hold the baby.

Every morning it was like they were seeing her for the first time. They were star struck.

Grandma got her fill of baby snuggles too.

And that's kind of the beautiful thing about bringing a newborn baby home. Life just slows down and the most important thing on the agenda is holding your snuggly little bug.

Of course those first few days are always kind of a blur. Round the clock feedings are such a brutal shock to the system when you're only getting1 1/2 to 2 hour blocks of sleep.

So grateful I had Mama Rigg there to help. She was so good about playing with the kids and helping Cam with the transition.

Days rolled into nights, and back into days of feeding, burping, diapering, swaddling, sleeping, and repeating it all again.

It's hard work being a baby I guess.

After about a week we had a big breakthrough…

Cam decided she wasn't so bad after all.
"I'll hold you baby, as long as I can suck my thumb and hold my blanky"

"And if you promise not to touch my trains."

I think she was okay with that deal. :)

She's so small! Love that Cam is warming up to her. Paul got a kick out of the picture of him in the baby throne.
