So I kind of like to throw birthday parties. And for the longest time I've been trying to convince Teya that she wanted a fairy party. I could just see it all in my head, little girls running around in tutu's with fairy wings. So cute right? But when she was 3 she wanted Pirates, and at 4 it was all about Ariel. She talked about Diego for her 5th birthday until about a month ago when she said, "I want a tinker bell party." YES! I jumped on it and last Friday my dream of hosting little fairies came to life. Here are some pics from the big day. I thought it turned out pretty darn cute.
The birthday girl all ready for her guests to arrive
I decided to get crafty and make Martha Stewart Tissue pom poms. A bit time consuming but I think they turned out so pretty.
Here's the little backdrop I made for pictures. My camera stinks but it looked very garden fairy-ish in real life : )
For food I made butterfly shaped sandwiches and fruit. We also had pigs in a blanket per Teya's request.
My insanely talented friend Darby made Teya's cake. I told her what I had in mind and she came up with something 100 times better than I could've imagined. She made every flower (including the big white one) out of fondant. The whole thing was just so gorgeous. She seriously needs to go into the cake business.
One more cake picture because it was just so awesome. (and it tasted awesome too!)
Here's how the food and decorations all came together.
Each girl got her own fairy tutu, wings and butterfly wand.
As the guests arrived Teya was so excited to show them their fairy gear and get them all dressed up. Once everyone was here we took a picture of the fabulous fairies.
Our first activity was making pixie dust jars with colored sand. The girls loved it.

Here's how the finished products came out.
After the pixie dust jars I read them a "Very Fairy Princess" by Julie Andrews. Then we came back to make pink chocolate dipped marshmallows sprinkled with fairy dust.
The marshmallows were a little messy but the girls didn't mind licking the chocolate off their fingers. : )
After Marshmallows they ate their Fairy food.
And then it was time for cake!
We sang and she blew out all her candles (with a little help from her friends ; )

Then we opened presents and finished with the crowning event: a Pinata!
From this experience I learned that the fail safe secret to party success is to bust out a pinata. It was seriously the highlight of their night.
Sadly all good things must come to an end and before long it was time to send all the little fairies (except these two cuties) home. Everyone had a great time and Teya rewarded mommy with a big hug and by telling me "Thanks for the best birthday ever." Well worth the effort for that : )
Special shout out to to Taber for getting off work early to help out with the party. Couldn't have pulled it off without him. He also took some nice footage and put together this video of the highlights. Hope you enjoy!

Good job Becca! Looks fun, but I feel all girlie...I'm gonna go eat some red meat and watch some sports with my sons.
Haha my husband is so funny... any way super cute party Becca! Seriously you should start a party planning/throwing business. I would so hire you for every event. Looks like the girls had a blast.
SO cute, Becca!
Great ideas and a great party!
Seriously, that looks like such a great party! I may have to keep that in mind for future parties for Miley! It looks like all the girls had a ball! Good work Becca!
This is so cute! I love the pixie dust out of sand. I hope my brain can hold onto that idea and not let it slip away like so many other things!
You know you just had a baby right???!!! You're my hero, reminding me what kind of mom I can be! Happy birthday Teya!!
Holy Cow Woman! When did you find the time?! I love the tissue paper pom poms and the cake is awesome! Could you be a cooler mom?! I think not! Can't wait for you to fly out here for Brooklyn's next birthday :)
P.S. The dog leash on the pinata...very clever!
I am speechless! You are so awesome to pull off such an amazing party! I still don't have it together enough to even take my kids to the park, and my baby is almost 5 months old! Seriously, everything looked so great. I love the video Taber put together - I had a big silly grin on my face the whole time I was watching it. Your kids are so lucky to have such a fun mom!
Wow--can you say mom of the year? I'm going to have to hire you to do my kid's birthday parties... :) It looks like a little girl's dream!
Taber, that was a seriously good home video. You got all the right shots and angles. I was impressed. (this coming from a guy who used to do video work as a job)
Oh my GOODNESS! That party was so magical! Everything looked so amazing, and then the VIDEO. How cool will it be for Teya to go back and watch that when she's older? I've got to learn how to make videos like that, Taber is good!
You did a great job, Becca. I love the pixie dust and marshmallow ideas. Makenzie kept going back and forth between a princess party or a fairy party so if she wants a fairy party next time, I'm totally recreating this, okay? ;)
Makenzie walked in right after I posted that comment so I showed her the video. She was impressed with the pixie dust effect around the words. About 30 seconds in, she said, "I want a fairy party when I'm a six-year-old." hahaha, who wouldn't after watching that?!
Oh my Gosh Becca!
You are seriously amazing! That party looked off the hook dude! I am 22 and I want a party like that. I loved that all the girls got their own fairy outfits and the cake was awesome. You are seriously so awesome girl. Way to be super mom! You need to start wrtiting a book on cool ideas for kids activities and bday parties... One thing for sure you have always been the party queen... That is why when I get prego I am making you and be part of my planning team for my baby shower cuz it will be off the hook! lol love ya
Reading this made me so excited to host girly birthday parties in the years to come! Yippee! Great job!
Becca, What an amazingly, beautiful, magical party. How could a little girl ever forget that? I am sure it will be one of her favorite memories of growing up. You should seriously think about being a party planner for children and adults. You've got talent girl! You always did love parties even when you were little. How Fun!
